چکیده

Supercritical Assisted Atomization (SAA) has been used to micronize α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) and hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD). The effect of some process parameters such as precipitation temperature and solute concentration in the liquid solution has been studied to evaluate their influence on morphology and size of precipitated particles. Cyclodextrins micronization has been obtained with sharp particle size distributions. Welldefined spherical microparticles of α-CD and HP-β-CD have been produced, ranging between 0.1 and 30 μm and between 0.5 and 20 μm, respectively. X-ray and DSC analyses have been also performed to investigate cyclodextrins modifications after SAA processing: amorphous particles have been obtained in both cases, whereas raw αCD was crystalline and raw HP-β-CD was amorphous.

Supercritical fluids-assisted micronization techniques. Low-impact routes for particle production*

Micronized powders are of interest in many industrial fields; pharmaceuticals, catalysts, pigments, and biopolymers, for example, are some categories of products that can be used as micro-sized particles. Traditional techniques used to produce micronic powders are based on high-temperature reactions that require high energies, on jet milling that is characterized by low efficiencies and mechani...

Enhancement of dissolution rate of poorly-soluble active ingredients by supercritical fluid processes. Part I: Micronization of neat particles.

In this first of two articles, we discuss some issues surrounding the dissolution rate enhancement of poorly-soluble active ingredients micronized into nano-particles using several supercritical fluid particle design processes including rapid expansion of supercritical solutions (RESS), supercritical anti-solvent (SAS) and particles from gas-saturated solutions/suspensions (PGSS). Experimental ...

Micronization of Poorly Water-Soluble Trichlorocarbanilide Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

Trichlorocarbanilide has widely been used in cosmetics and household products, but the extremely low solubility of trichlorocarbanilide in water constrains the development of water-based products. In order to enhance the bioavailability, trichlorocarbanilide were micronized using supercritical fluid. Supercritical carbon dioxide was selected due to relatively low critical temperature and the ra...

Production of Albumin Microspheres for Drug Release by Supercritical Assisted Atomization

Microparticulate carriers are widely employed as drug controlled release system. In this work, the Supercritical Assisted Atomization (SAA) technique was used to produce microspheres of Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), selected as carrier and gentamicin sulphate (GS) as a model drug. The processability of BSA and GS by SAA was studied using water as solvent and microspheres were successfully produce...

Supercritical Antisolvent Technique: Production of Nanoparticles

Supercritical antisolvent micronization (SAS) is a versatile technique that allows the obtainment of different morphologies and dimensions of precipitates, but only in some cases nanoparticles were produced. This work is focused on the selection of the SAS operating conditions to obtain this morphology. A series of experiments on several compounds and different solvents at 40 °C and selected pr...
